How about a wing of a fly or other insects ... not kill, obviously, a special microscopic examination, but when you see a corpse lying around, try this. I have some body parts of insects on a blade, if they gave me a microscope as a child.

Get a little roof of damp moss - Soak in water for a few days if necessary - and let a few "sticks" at a time. If you're lucky, you get the water bears (tardigrades) on their first attempt to be seen. They can survive temperatures of -30 and move so fast. I love them.
